George Upon the death of , which occurred on the 6th ofJuly, 1834, Mr. Mason became Act-ing Governor. In October, 1835, hewas elected Governor under the Slateorganization, and immediately en-tered upon the performance of the duties of the office, although theState was not yet admitted into the Union. Afterthe State was admitted into the Union, GovernorMason was re-elected to the jwsition, and served withcredit to himself and to the advantage of the died Jan. 4, 1843.
