The ventilating system was designed by the BuffaloForge Company, of Buffalo, N. Y., who furnished thefans, counter-shaft and the various draft hoods. The. Square Forge at Brainerd, Minn., Shops of N. Ry., Showing Connections for DownDraft System. hoods furnished to the forges were their standard patentedconstruction cast iron, each hood being furnished with10-inch exhaust line. The tuyeres on the forges arefthe ordinary pipe tuyeres. The hoods for the variousfurnaces are of sheet steel construction and the ele-vation of the oil furnaces presented in the accompany-ing line drawings shows the details of will be seen that the hood is what might be termeda double hood; the larger outside hood has false plateswithin, which intensify the draft around the outeredge of the hood, preventing the smoke and gasesescaping outside of its confines. 9Cop
