Detroit, Michigan - The Upcycling Kitchen at Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church makes ready-to-eat healthy meals from donated food that would otherwise have gone into landfills. It is a project of the nonprofit Make Food Not Waste. Alexis Chingman-Tijerina mixes apple pulp and ginger pulp into bread she is making. The pulp came from a juice bar, and would normally have been discarded.
