Ancient Egyptian Merie - re tomb relief panel, 1410–1372 BC, 18th Dynasty, reign of Amenhotep III, Saqara, Saqqara, tomb of Meri­re. Painted limestone, H 130,2 cm, B 87 cm. Kunsthistorisches Muesum Vienna AS 5814. In the upper scene on the relief from the tomb of the treasurer and prince’s tutor Meri­ re, the tomb owner and his wife are depicted in prayer before a deity. In the lower register, Prince Si­atum sits on the lap of his tutor. The tomb owner, his wife, and the prince all have “ointment cones” made of fat mixed with perfume on their heads.
