Seguine Mansion, Prince's Bay, Staten Island, New York

James Seguine purchased an estate overlooking Prince's Bay in 1786. Accumulating a fortune in the oyster harvesting business, his grandson Joseph Seguine (1801–56) built this Greek Revival mansion in 1837–38. He also was involved in the candle-making business and grew salt hay, used to keep ice. The house and ten acres were transferred to the City in 1989.
