The Victoria Memorial, Kolkata, India, was conceived by Lord Curzon,the then Viceroy of British India. It was opened to the public in 1921. The architect was Sir William Emerson. The hall comprises several galleries, housing collections of paintings, prints, coins, maps, arms and armour, manuscripts, etc.
