When I wish to seed down my land, I very often plow upbut half the field after it has been in pasture two or threeyears, spreading fifteen or twenty double box loads of manureaccording to the quality of it. WHEAT. I stir the ground — corn stubble, usually,—about fiveinches deep, dragging down stalks first, or cutting them withstalk-cutter. Harrow twice, then sow on seed. Follow withharrow three times more, if I intend to seed it to grass, sowingthe grass seed before the harrow goes over the last time, androlling. Three draggings may do on some land, if it is plowedwell by the sulky plows. I sow all by hand. FOR OATS we plow an inch deeper, and finish as for wheat. FOR CORN we plow still deeper. If sod, use . pulverizing harrow bothways, and before it dries I harrow the first way again. Har-row with Scotch harrow once or twice, just before planting, which, to insure the crop from cut-worms, should be deferred PLAN OF BARN FRAMES. 241. Stud 2X 8 »n 22/f. Jtafters same Xength
