Spectators watching the start of the annual Bol d’Or (Gold Cup) sailing race on Lac Léman (Lake Geneva).

The Bol d'Or is an annual race from Geneva, at one end of Lac Leman, to Le Bouveret at the other, and then back again. A total distance of 80 nautical miles. First held on July 18 1939 with twenty six competitors, the race now attracts nearly 600 yachts to the starting line. The current record times for this race were both set in 1994 when a multi-hull completed the course in 5h 2m, and a monohull in 8h 46m.
