AMONG THECAPS AND GOWNS The rooms in each house were not whatyou would imagine at all. The bed-ru(ims were all downstairs, while theliving room, dining room, kitchen,etc., were on the second floor. Butthis wasnt half bad either, becausewhen bedtime came the children didnot have to be dragged upstairs tobed, but instead, mother simply putthem on the bannisters and—down tobed they slid. But I havent told you yet whenthey went to bed. Just when we aregetting up, they go to bed and whenwe go to bed they are getting this isnt half bad either for as aresult they are a much happier peo-ple than we, since night-time hides somany imperfections that stare us inthe face in the day time. The thing which confused me mostwas when Mrs. Smith L. Tom calledme one morning to supper, and thenspoke about the excellent breakfastwe were to have that night.
