An alliance of neighbors and leftist groups today prevented by blocking the scheduled eviction at Karl-Heinz "Kalle" Gerigk. After the eviction was canceled it came spontaneously to a demonstration and short-term blocking a main road in the downtown area. Karl-Heinz "Kalle" Gerigk has become a symbol of a nationwide protest movement. The 54-year-old municipal employees to leave after 30 years of his cheap apartment in the center of Cologne, his landlord has filed personal use, but announced a luxury refurbishment and resale of the apartment on the internet.
