The thoracic nerves are blocked from a point of puncture 3 to 4cm. distant from the line of the spinous processes, that is, from themidline of the back. It is, therefore, necessary to have a thoroughknowledge of the anatomy of the region so as to be able to visualize itsstructures while attempting to reach the nerves at their exit from theintervertebral foramina.
