The Strode Family, 1738. By William Hogarth (1697-1764). The main subject of this painting is the wealthy city magnate William Strode (c1712-1755), seated at table with his new wife Lady Anne Cecil (1719-1752), his relative Colonel Strode (1698-1776), and his tutor Dr Arthur Smyth, later Archbishop of Dublin (1706-1771).
