Traditional Wooden Arabic Dhow (sailing vessel) seen through a hole in a limestone formation outcrop in the ocean off the coast

The Dhow is a traditional Arabic sailing vessel. Here is it seen through a hole in the rock off the coast of Oman carrying tourists on a boat ride. Rock formations such as these can be seen off the coast of Oman composed mostly of around 35 to 55 million year old Eocene limestone and marl. The limestone was originally part of the sea floor and is made up of shells of marine organisms such as bivalve shellfish, coral and algae, deposited in a shallow marine environment.
