The general contour of the surrounding countryis level prairie, and throughout the entire vicinity water maybe had from springs that flow out at several points along thedraw and from a depth of 100 feet or more. The growth ofthe town has been steady, and has not exceeded the settlementand development of the surrounding country. Its populationat present is 1,300, while the precinct has a population of over2,000. There are two banks, one national, and the otherterritorial. There are five hotels and a number of boarding.
