York, UK, 22 July 2015. The newly redeveloped York Art Gallery in Exhibition Square prepares for public reopening on Yorkshire Day, 1 August. Major works costing £8 million have increased exhibition space by 60%, adding a new first floor gallery and providing many new visitor facilities. The reopening will showcase Grayson Perry's ceramic figure “Melanie”, recently acquired by the Gallery, and three L S Lowry paintings with a York theme (shown here), exhibited together for the first time.
