Roll Call Tower at Auschwitz-Birkenau in Poland.


Booth where the SS man responsible for conducting the roll call and collecting reports on the number of prisoners took shelter during inclement weather. The roll call could take up to 20 hours during which time the prisoners were not allowed to move. During these rollcalls, the entire camp stood silently as the SS called out each prisoner’s name, seeing that all the prisoners were accounted for.
