The Cairn of Barnenez is a Neolithic monument located near Plouezoc'h, on the Kernéléhen peninsula in northern Finistère, Brittany Eleven funery chambers discovered between 1955 and 1968. The first cairn dates from 4600 BC and is built from dolerite. The second cairn is 200 years newer and built from light granite. It dates to the early Neolithic, about 4800 BC; it is considered one of the earliest megalithic monuments in Europe, as well as the second oldest building in the world, along with the Tumulus of Bougon and Locmariaquer megaliths, also located in Great West France. It is also remarkable for the presence of megalithic art.
