Model of the Lock for the Basin at Flushing, Construction model of a lock with three pairs of doors for a dock. The model shows the improvements and repairs to the lock floor that were carried out in 1847-1848. The lock gates are operated by tall trees on capstans on shore, so-called push presses. The flood doors on the sea side of the lock open to the outside, they have no spouts. The remaining two pairs of doors are ebony doors and open inwards, the middle pair has low drains, the inner pair has drains just below the low water level. An elevated threshold is provided between the flood doors
