Painting in the Society of Illustrators. 128 East 63rd Street between Park and Lexington Street. Tel 212-838-260. We begin our tour near Metro Station 59th Street-Lexington Ave 4-5 6-NRWF, up four blocks to 63rd Street. (10am-8pm Tue / Wed-Fri 10am-5pm / Sat 12pm-4pm / free). In February 1901, a group of nine artists and entrepreneur founded "The Society of Illustrators" in order to "promote the art of illustration and exhibitions on the subject." Currently, important pieces in the gallery as "Madame Orba" Thomas Kuebler, or artwork from "The Lord of the Rings" by Matthew Stewart, among many others exposed.
