The form ofthe palanquin usually employed in ancientEgypt is shown in the annexed engraving;and, seeing how the luxuries and refinementsof Egypt were now adopted in Palestine, withthe evidence before us that the palanquin hadcome into use, this was doubtless one of theforms in which it was used. But Harmer, inhis illustrations of Solomons Song, thinks thatthe description would suggest a comparison tothe howdah, in which, on the back of an [Egyptian Palanquin.].
