A splendid sabre with a Mameluke hilt, Great Britain, circa 1820 A presentation sabre of extremely high quality. The blade forged of Damascus steel, the first half richly etched and gilt with Turkish and oriental motifs. Fire-gilded, chiselled lion head hilt with a pendant ring. Rayskin-covered scabbard with gilt mountings decorated with embossed floral designs. The gilding is somewhat rubbed, otherwise in good condition.
