A year after this the muscles on the right side of the face werespasmodically contracted for six weeks. About eleven years ago she felldown suddenly in the street, with loss of sensation and motion, from whichshe perfectly recovered in six weeks. She had no further illness till fiveyears ago, when she suffered from pain and swelling in the right iliacregion, attended with constipation. The pain gradually became verysevere. It yielded to leeches, blisters, and low diet, after continuing fromthree weeks to a month. She perfectly recovered from this attack, andher health was good till her present illness, which began seven monthsago, after great fatigue and anxiety in attending her mother, who wasthen, in her 91st year, operated on successfully for strangulated hernia.
