Similar in general habit to Helianthus, but commencing to flower earlier in the sea- son ; of dwarfer habit, rarely exceeding 3 feet in height ; very valuable for cutting. Pitcherianus. A desirable variety, growing from 2 to 3 feet high, and a perpetual bloomer, beginning to flower early in the season and continuing in bloom the entire summer. The flowers are of a beautiful deep golden-yellow color, about 2 inches in diameter, of very thick texture, and are very graceful for cutting. (See cut.) Pitcherianus Semi=plena.
