An older Mayan woman wears traditional dress, including a tocoyal or head wrap tyipical of Santiago Antitlan. They are a symbol of status and authority for a years ago, many women there wore them, but because they are so expensive now, most women cannot afford them any more anymore. It is a piece of woven fabric about 40 feet long which is wrapped around the head.
