Composite image of the lunar occultation of Mars on 7 December 2022, when the Moon passed in front of Mars. This composite shows the motion of Mars relative to the Moon so it appears as if Mars is moving past the moon. Mars is around twice the size of the Moon, but appears tiny here due to its greater distance, some 206 times farther away than the Moon.
