Viet Cong attack on Thanh Ena and Phenh ly village, located 17 miles East of Danang, on June 11, 1970. The attack lasted for two hours and resulted in the destruction of more than half of the villages. The villages were targeted because they refused to support local Viet Cong activities or provide rice to the Communists. Over 150 civilian villagers, mostly women, children, and elders, were killed during the raid. One Viet Cong member was killed by defending Popular Force Troops. Photo by Sgt. Berkowits.
