Texas has become an important factor in the consumption of vegetable seeds. At the rate the industry has been grow- ing, the state soon will be the kitchen garden of America. Thb February magazines carry even less seed trade advertising than last year. The best results have been found to come from the use of the farm papers and gardening publications. Oedees thus far in 1912, except in spe- cial cases, are not up to the record for the same period last year. The south has sent the usual volume of business, but the severe weather has held back orders from the greater part of the country. With seeds as scarce as the talk would indicate, it is surprising how many sur- plus lists are in circulation. A few items are hard to find in quantity, of course, but pretty nearly everybody in the seed business has something to sell, just the same.
