Issa Soju Museum Garden - Issa Kobayashi, one of Japan's leading haiku poets, visited Nagareyama brewer Akimoto Sanzaemon (haiku name: Soju) to hold haiku meetings. The Akimoto family's house and garden were maintained and then opened as the Issa Soju Memorial Museum. There are three study rooms, frame garden taken from the tatami room. Stepping stones crisscross the white sand though it is rare to see a white sand paving with so many stepping stones. At the end of the stepping stones is a pond with no water called Kareike, which has no stonework like Sanson Iwagumi or Horai Seki and is flat. Therefore, without the stepping stones on the white sand floor, it would be monotonous, which is probably why it was designed like this.
