The level of the boiler water in the% in. tube D will now rise or fall withthe boiler. The water in the generator, however, is being cooled all the time byradiation through the extenrnal fins, andkept below boiling point, while a portionof tube D is filled with steam at boilerpressure and tends to heat up the upperpart of the water in the generator. Ac-cording as the boiler level falls, so willmore of the tube D heat up the genera-tor and increase the pressure so that thefeed pipe regulator will be opened cor-respondingly more.
