This timeappointed for prayer, and for seeking a minister, wasnearing its end. Other men had been before them, butnone had reached the hearts of the people. That was anotable day when Smith preached in the vacant sermons completely captured the congregation;and when the appointed day, June fourteenth, came hewas unanimously chosen pastor of Pine Street.
