Spain, Santiago de Compostella, Cathedral of Santiago de Compostella


According to legend, Santiago de Compostella Cathedral is the reputed burial-place of Saint James. In 997 the church was burned by the army commander of the caliph of Cordoba. Construction of the present cathedral began in 1075. Construction was halted several times and according to temporary codex completed in 1211.
