The pear-shaped vaulted body is composed of 35 wooden shavings separated by fine black and white decorative bands. The lute maker Petrus Hellmer was probably a relative of the well-known lute makers Magnus Hellmer I and II from Füssen. Füssen was an important center of lute making.
