BONE AXD JOINT SURGERY.* By George H. Sexsmith, M. D. Bayonne, N. of the Bayonne Hospital. This branch of surgery has caused themedical profession, in general, more worryand anxiety than any other, and the imper-fect results obtained in the treatment ofbone and joint injuries, whether avoidableor not, have caused more criticism and ridi-cule of our profession by the public thanin any other class of cases. The cause forthis criticism and ridicule is due to the factthat the cases of deformity and incapacityresulting therefrom are ever before thepublic eye. while the imperfect results inthe abdominal surgical cases are hiddenaway under silkworm gut sutures, or theMichel clips.
