He is amember of the American Economic Association, ofwhich he was president from 1S96 to 189S; of theAmerican Statistical Society, of which he is vice-. Besides hisannual reports to the Interstate Commerce Cora-mission, his public reports of special investigations,and numerous contributions to periodical literature,he has published the following works: PublicDebts, an Essay in the Science of Finance (1S87) ;and The Science of Finance, An Investigation ofPublic Expenditures and Public Revenues (189S).In 1904 the University of Wisconsin conferred uponhim the degree of Doctor of Laws. In 1890 he wasmarried to Bertha Hammond Wright ( 1888),by whom he has three sons : Henry Carter, Jr.,Theodore Wright, and Thomas Hammond.
