City of Derby, England. The Old Silk Mill viewed from the redeveloped Cathedral Green. Part of the World heritage Site, the Old Silk Mill in Full Street is the home of Derby’s Industrial Museum, more formerly known as Derby’s Museum of Industry and History. Constructed in the early 18th century by George Sorocold for the Lombe brothers the Silk Mill was considered to be the worlds first modern factory.
