Shrub, 3 ft. high, with slender, spreading branches, an- gular and sparingly pubescent : Ivs. broadly ovate to ovate, sharply and often doubly serrate, almost gla- brous, whitish or bluish green "beueath, 1-2 in. long: fls. polygamous, pink, in small corymbs, ^2-2 in. across; stamens little longer than petals; sepals reflexed in fr.: follicles pubescent only at the inner suture, with spreading styles.
