Miletus was an ancient Greek city flourishing from the 8th century BC in the west of nowadays Turkey. The settlement was in former times at the coast but is now situated inland. From this port the Sacred Way leads as an impressive road out. Stairs were leading to the Ionic Stoa with shops in the background east of the road Milet war eine Stadt im alten Griechenland, die ab dem 8. Jahrhundert vor Christus aufblühte. Damals lag der Ort an der Küste, heute finden sich seine Ruinen einige Kilometer landeinwärts. Vom Hafen führt die beeindruckende Heiligen Straße heraus. Von ihr führten Treppen hinauf zur Ionischen Stoa im Osten der Straße hinauf, an deren Rückseite Läden waren.
