However, despite the differences of the localities, the wide range of variation within the small amount of available material does not provide the evidence for species separation. Comparison of the various 'diagnoses' provided by Hopwood (1937), Arambourg (1947), and Cooke (1950), and reference to descriptions by Pomel (1897) and Joleaud (1933) indicate quite clearly that no true, clear-cut diagnosis is possible.
