To obtain good Lettuce, a rich, open soil and an abundant supply of moisture during the entire growing season are necessary. Seed may be sown in hotbeds in March, to be set out when weather permits, and in the open ground from early April to the middle of August for a succession. Plants should be set a foot apart each way.
