The following letter was addressed to Doctor Joseph Warren, Watertown, abouta month before he was killed at Bunker Hill, and the prominence of the personsmakes the letter of some interest. c- Braintree May 13, 1775. A Brother of Mr Adamses who has been a Captain of aCompany in this Town is desirous of joining the Army providedhe can obtain (a) Birth; he would prefer a Majors to any other—as he has not an acquaintance with any Gentleman in the armyexcept Coll Palmer; he requested me to write you a line in hisbehalf; he is a person both of steadiness & probity and if thereshould be any place open in the army wherein he could serve hisCountry I believe he would discharge the Trust reposed in him toacceptance — Your interest Sir in his favour would oblige (nametorn out) & his absent Brother, as well as your Humble Servant Abigail Adams.
