Jabbah star and nebulae, infrared image. The star Jabbah (red, centre right, actually a system of several stars) is below the nebula IC 4592, with a second nebula (IC 4601) at centre left. These nebulae are located around 440 light years from Earth, in the constellation of Scorpius. They are reflection nebulae, with the gas and dust clouds heating up as they reflect light from nearby stars. The colours represent infrared light from stars (blue) and from nebulae (red and green). Green is a warmer temperature than red. This image, about 30 light years across, published in 2011, was obtained by NASA's Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE).
