Now;*gentlemen, I hope you who have been appointed will all serve the so- ciety for the ensuing year and show no hesitancy in asking at any time the help of the entire society in any mat- ters that you as committees wish to "stand fathers ; Under the mod- ern rules of order which govern most societies, clubs, etc., the presiding of- ficer is a member ex officio of each com- mittee appointed, and as your presi- dent I promise you that I will en- deavor to carry out the wishes of each committee that I have appointed, and I hope to have things stirring right along the lines and all the time. As far as possible I would ask the chairmen of all committees to make all suggestions, etc., in writing, so that they may be filed by the secretary, in order to avoid any confusion. I would state, also, that we have had in the last year some excellent papers on va- rious subjects, and I believe they should become the property of the society. In the future I shall ask the authors to leave them in the hands of the secre- tary, who is authorized to purchase an ordinary letter file for the purpose of saving them for future reference.
