Cancer of the rectum surgery. Surgeons performing laparascopic (keyhole) surgery on a patient with rectal cancer. Keyhole surgery is a minimally invasive procedure that is directed using a laparascope, a type of endoscope that is inserted through a small incision into the patient's abdomen. It sends an image of the area being operated on to a monitor (not seen) which the surgeon uses to guide the procedure.
