Delivering Apollo 11 Moon Rock Box
The first Apollo 11 sample return container, with lunar surface material inside, is unloaded at the Lunar Receiving Laboratory at NASA's Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston, Texas. The rock box had arrived only minutes earlier at Ellington Air Force Base by air from the Pacific recovery area. The lunar samples were collected by astronauts Neil A. Armstrong and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. during their lunar surface extravehicular activity. July 25, 1969.
