CARMINAT car navigation system. A passenger's view of a map warning of a traffic jam (red line) in Paris, as displayed by the CARMINAT in-car computer. CARMINAT may be used as a database to plan routes or to locate buildings such as petrol stations, hotels, restaurants or hospitals. With an FM radio link to the SIRIUS traffic monitoring system, CARMINAT may also provide warnings of traffic jams, accidents or diversions on the road ahead as soon as a problem arises. The system can also be used to provide details of local weather, train and airline timetables and the availability of car parking at major venues.
