Uffington White Horse on the Berkshire Downs looking north across Vale of White Horse. Bronze age chalk horse circa 1000 BC

Uffington White Horse on the scarp of the Berkshire Downs looking north across the Vale of White Horse. It is a bronze age chalk horse circa 1000 BC and is visible from far across the Vale. Beyond and to the left is Dragon Hill where legend says St. George slew the dragon leaving a white patch were the dragon's blood poisoned the ground so that no grass could grow there. St. George more likely lived in the Middle East, making this story strictly legend.
