GEOCALYX. G. GRAVEOLENS (Schrad.) Nees. is our only species. It gets its specific name from the fact that it has an underground in- volucre much like that of Kantia, which it somewhat resembles in habit and gross appearance, but its leaves are subrectangular and very deeply two-toothed at the ends as shown in the figure. The underleaves are present, but so small as to be made out with difficulty wiih a lens.
