This interpretation isfurther confirmed by a passage ofPliny ( vi. 39.), in which theword segmentum means a divisionformed by parallel circles — seg-menta mundi, quce nostri circulos ap-pellavere, Grceci parallelos. SEJUGXS. A chariot drawn bysix horses yoked abreast. Liv. SELIQIJASTRUM. An old-fashioned or antiquated kind of seat(Festus, s. v.), but of what precisecharacter is not ascertained. Varro,L. L. v. 128. Hygin. Astron. ii. 9. SELLA (hippos). A low seat ofthe characteristic kind which we un-. derstand by our terms stool or settle, in opposition to chair (cathedra);that is, without back or arms, such aswas commonly used by females ( 1. 46.) and artizans (Id. Cat ) engaged in sedentary illustration represents Penelopein a Pompeian painting ; and comparethe wood-cuts s, Calceolarius, Cal-culator. 2.
