Day of the Dead kites


Every year, the different barrios in Sumpango rival each other to conceive and build the most challenging in terms of size, design and messaging, kite. Many themes glorify ancient Maya or Indian civilisation and can be seen as rather big identity badges. . The kites are flown as high as possible (when they can fly!) as a form of link between the living and the dead who are, unquestionably, in heaven
