The first Jaguar E-type Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe, 9600HP, is pictured here at the All England Jumping Course at Hickstead in West Sussex in 1961. Opened in 1960 Hickstead was designed to match facilities found in the USA and Europe so that British show jumpers could compete on an even playing field. The Jaguar E-type, launched in 1961, was designed to compete with the best sports cars in the world.
